Assistant Secretary Alexa Posny to Give Opening Remarks at 2012 National Transition Conference in Washington, D.C.

Alexa Posny, assistant secretary for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), will provide opening remarks at the 2012 National Transition Conference on Wednesday, May 30, in Washington, D.C. Posny will discuss improving the transition from school to college, career and adult life for youth and individuals with disabilities. White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett will attend and give brief remarks.
The 2012 National Transition Conference—“College and Careers for Youth with Disabilities”—will take place May 30 – June 1. It will bring together partners in the transition community, including young adults and family members. The conference will provide a forum for the development of an action agenda, bring together critical partners in the transition community to exchange innovative ideas and approaches; demonstrate knowledge gained from policy implementation; share transition practices and research findings; and promote and facilitate the development of networks and relationships. Participants will be able to access the latest information that can be used to improve the transition from school to adult life for young adults with disabilities.
